Empowering Government Buildings with Solar Energy in San Diego
Local governments across California are becoming hip to the benefits of solar energy. They are realizing that with solar, they can reduce energy consumption and lower utility bills for their facilities.
During the hot summer months, the energy costs for air conditioning in courthouses, libraries, and other public buildings can be sky high!
When installing expansive carport solar systems or rooftop solar panels, these institutions can significantly cut down on their electricity expenses. This not only conserves public resources but also leads to savings for taxpayers, creating a win-win situation for everyone involved.
This is where we can help! We have been installing bespoke solar installations for residential, commercial, and the government since 1998!
Here is how:
We Develop Exceptional Solar Installations for Large Institutions
We are frequently approached by companies and large institutions across America, to design and implement solar systems tailored to their specific needs. These projects range from smaller 30 kW systems to expansive installations exceeding 1 MW!
Our experience spans a wide array of settings and conditions, allowing us to provide versatile solutions such as carport installations, rooftop panels, and ground-mounted systems. Regardless of the challenges presented by a particular site, Stellar Solar is equipped to develop a solar system that will deliver reliable power for many years.
Military Trust in Stellar Solar 🇺🇸
Stellar Solar has also been a reliable partner for military institutions seeking to decrease their energy usage. Our expertise and reliability have been proven through our work with the Navy, Air Force, and Army.
These projects, often conducted in high-security environments, require a high level of trust and confidentiality. Stellar Solar’s successful installations for these branches of the military demonstrate our commitment to quality and security, and our ability to handle sensitive projects with the utmost discretion.
Tailored Solutions for Every Institution
We pride ourselves on our ability to customize solar solutions to meet the unique requirements of each client. For government buildings, this often involves assessing the available space and the specific energy needs of the facility.
Carport solar systems are particularly effective for maximizing space in parking lots while providing shade and reducing heat island effects. Rooftop systems, on the other hand, make use of existing roof space, transforming it into a productive asset for energy generation.
Comprehensive Service and Support
Our service goes beyond just installation. Stellar Solar provides ongoing support and maintenance to ensure that each solar system continues to operate at peak efficiency. We use advanced monitoring systems to track performance and quickly address any issues that may arise. This proactive approach ensures that the institutions we serve can enjoy uninterrupted benefits from their solar investments.
Financial and Environmental Benefits
The shift to solar power is not only a financially sound decision but also an environmentally responsible one. By reducing reliance on traditional energy sources, government institutions can significantly lower their carbon footprint. This commitment to sustainability aligns with broader environmental goals and demonstrates leadership in the community.
Case Studies and Proven Success
Each of our projects highlights our ability to adapt our solutions to different environments and requirements. Check out our case study page to learn more about our solar for government institutions in San Diego.
The Weinberger Courthouse in Downtown San Diego, a historic site completed in 1913, serves as a bankruptcy court. This monumental building is listed in the National Register of Historic Places.
When representatives from the courthouse approached us about installing solar, we were happy to help! To preserve the courthouse’s classical architecture, we proposed and installed a large carport system in their parking lot. This solution not only powers the entire facility but also provides shade for visitors.
In 2017, we installed a 500-panel system with a total capacity of 155 DCkW. The Weinberger Courthouse now enjoys the benefits of having no power bills, thanks to our expert installation services.
– Number of Modules: 500
– DC System Size (kW): 155 DCkW
– Install Year: 2017
This project showcases our ability to blend renewable energy solutions with historical preservation, providing both functionality and respect for architectural heritage.
Stellar Solar was honored to be chosen by the City of Tustin from among several solar contractors to design and install a 99 kW solar energy system for the roof of the Columbus Tustin Gymnasium. The installation covers 9,900 square feet of the gymnasium’s roof and is expected to save the city approximately $23,000 annually in electrical costs. Additionally, this project significantly reduces the city’s environmental impact.
This initiative was funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant, administered through the Department of Energy. The installation comprises 423 REC 235 Watt modules, ensuring optimal energy production.
– Number of Modules: 423 REC 235 Watt Modules
– DC System Size (kW): 99 kWp
– Install Year: 2011
– Monitoring: Includes 3 SMA-6000, 3 SMA-7000, and 6 SMA-8000 inverters
The Tustin Gymnasium project exemplifies how strategic investment in solar energy can yield substantial financial savings and environmental benefits for local governments.
